- Cross Country/Athletics Counselor
Description
Camp Laurel South is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Cross Country Counselor to lead and grow an engaging running program for campers of all ages and ability levels. In this role, you’ll create a supportive and energetic environment where campers can build endurance, confidence, and a love for running while enjoying the beautiful outdoors of Maine.
As a Cross Country Counselor, you will design and lead daily runs, training sessions, and fun fitness-based activities tailored to a wide range of skill levels—from beginners exploring running for the first time to experienced runners looking to improve their pace and technique. You’ll emphasize proper warm-ups, running form, pacing, goal-setting, and injury prevention, while keeping the focus on fun, teamwork, and personal growth.
You’ll also help organize group runs, friendly competitions, and camp-wide fitness challenges that encourage participation and community spirit. Beyond the program, you’ll be an active member of the Camp Laurel South community—living in a cabin, mentoring campers, and contributing to the energy, traditions, and connection that define camp life.
