1. Wilderness Trip Leadership

      Execute and promote the Birch Rock Wilderness Adventure Program and all off-campus trips in alignment with the camp mission

      Help plan, prepare, and lead BRC trips, including route planning, logistics, and camper preparation

      Provide clear instruction in outdoor skills, safety practices, and Leave No Trace principles

      Create engaging, fun, and meaningful trip experiences for campers

 
2. Safety & Risk Management

      Execute and advocate the highest standards of safety at all times

      Know, follow, and enforce camp policies, State of Maine regulations, and ACA standards

      Conduct safety briefings and daily check-ins with campers

      Monitor camper health, behavior, and group dynamics while on trip

      Respond appropriately to emergencies and provide wilderness first aid when necessary

 
3. Camper Development & Mentorship

      Role model responsible outdoor leadership, teamwork, and respect for the environment

      Facilitate camper independence, decision-making, and accountability during trips

      Observe and evaluate camper growth and participation on trips

      Provide feedback to the Wilderness Director regarding camper progress and challenges

 
4. Equipment, Logistics & Transportation

      Assist with tracking, packing, and returning all trip equipment before and after trips

      Help maintain cleanliness and organization of trip gear

      Act as a driver on camp excursions and trips as needed

      Ensure vehicles and equipment are used safely and responsibly
