Are you passionate about the natural world and making a difference in the lives of youth? Camp Ketcha is a dynamic outdoor day camp located on 107 acres of fields, woods, marsh, and wetlands in Scarborough, Maine. Each summer, we hire over 90 staff members to support campers through hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, and meaningful community-building experiences.
Camp Counselors work directly with campers throughout the camp day, providing supervision, leadership, and support in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. Staff play a key role in fostering camper growth, confidence, skill development, and positive social interactions while helping create a fun and memorable camp experience. Camp Ketcha is now hiring the following Summer Camp Counselor Positions:
- Junior Counselors - Ages 16-17. Starting at $16.00/hr
- Senior Counselors - Ages 18+. Starting at $17.00/hr

Requirements
- Interest in and enthusiasm for working directly with children in an outdoor camp environment.
- Ability to actively engage with campers throughout the day, including participating in outdoor activities in varied weather conditions.
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly with campers, families, and staff.
- Ability to supervise and manage groups of children in a safe, structured, and supportive setting.
- Commitment to Ketcha Outdoors’ mission, vision, and values.
- Demonstrated responsibility, reliability, and professional conduct.
- Ability to prioritize camper safety and maintain awareness of risk management practices at all times.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Comfort facilitating or assisting with activities in front of groups of children.
- Ability to work independently when needed while also collaborating effectively with a staff team.
- Availability to attend all required staff training dates prior to the start of camp.
- Mandated Reporter Training (provided during staff training).
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification prior to the start of employment.
