- Seasonal Full Time Maintenance Assistant

Season: April 1 – October 31
West End House Camp is seeking a dependable, hard-working Maintenance Assistant to support the care and upkeep of our camp property during the 2026 season. This is a full-time, seasonal position running from April 1 through October 31.
The Maintenance Assistant plays a key role in preparing the camp for summer operations, maintaining facilities and grounds during the camp season, and assisting with fall shutdown and winterization. The ideal candidate is a quick thinker, takes direction well, and is comfortable working independently or as part of a team. Strong working knowledge of hand and power tools is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Spring (Pre-Season: April–June)
Assist with site clean-up following winter (clearing debris, raking, brush removal)
Prepare cabins, common areas, and program spaces for summer use
Perform basic repairs to buildings, docks, and equipment
Support painting, staining, and light carpentry projects
Help set up waterfront, activity areas, and storage spaces
Assist with removal of accumulated trash and debris from buildings and grounds
Summer (In-Season: June–August)
Respond to daily maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
Perform light carpentry, plumbing, and minor electrical repairs
Maintain grounds, trails, and outdoor spaces
Assist with equipment upkeep and safety checks
Manage daily trash and recycling removal across camp, including transporting waste to designated disposal areas
Monitor and maintain clean and sanitary dumpster and waste storage areas
Support special projects as assigned
Fall (Post-Season: September–October)
Assist with end-of-season clean-up of cabins and facilities
Winterize buildings and systems (shutting down water lines, securing equipment)
Remove trash and dispose of seasonal waste materials
Store and inventory tools and program equipment
Complete general property maintenance projects
Requirements
Qualifications
Experience in general maintenance, facilities, construction, or a related field preferred
Working knowledge of most hand and power tools
Basic carpentry skills required; additional trades experience a plus
Ability to take direction well and work independently
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed
Valid driver’s license preferred
Physical Requirements
This position is physically demanding and performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions. The Maintenance Assistant must be able to:
Walk long distances across uneven, wooded, and sloped terrain
Stand, bend, kneel, and climb ladders as needed
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally more with assistance
Push and pull heavy trash barrels and transport waste materials safely
Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
Work in hot, humid, rainy, or cool weather conditions
