Description
Expert Fire-Builder? Wilderness Wanderer? Join our Campcraft Team!
Do you believe the best meals are cooked over an open flame and the best nights are spent under the stars? At Camp Arcadia, our Campcraft program is where girls learn the grit and skills to thrive in the wilderness.
As a Campcraft Counselor, you’ll be the guide who turns "I’ve never slept in a tent" into "I can pitch a shelter and start a fire in the rain." You’ll lead hands-on lessons in outdoor living, facilitate overnight trips into the Maine woods, and help our older campers tackle the prestigious Junior Maine Guide program. If you’re looking for a summer of adventure where you can share your love for the earth and leave a lasting impact, this is it.
What You’ll Do:
- Teach outdoor living skills according to Camp Arcadia’s specific activity levels.
- Support and mentor campers participating in the Junior Maine Guide program.
- Plan and lead cookouts.
- Maintain campcraft equipment and ensure a safe, organized "woods kitchen" and teaching area.
Requirements
What You’ll Need:
- Outdoor Skillset: Strong knowledge of wilderness survival, fire building, knot tying, and primitive camping.
- Instructional Vibe: Excited to teach 4 activity periods a day to girls ages 7–17 focused on safety and "Leave No Trace" principles.
- Safety First: Must be certified in First Aid and CPR.
- Collaboration: Ready to work with the Head of Campcraft and a team of fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
- Commitment: Availability for the full summer season, (June 12 - August 16 or 19) in Otisfield, Maine.
