Summer Camp Nurse position available for Camp Session 1: June 25 - July 18 (with additional work available June 12-25). Come and spend your summer as part of our Health Services Team at Wyonegonic! Health Center staff work an average of 5 day week and are paid in a range of $185-$200/Day. Camper discounted tuition rates are included in staff benefits.
Wyonegonic Camps, founded in 1902, is the longest running residential camp for girls in the United States. We offer a traditional resident camp program with an extensive waterfront that offers a variety of program opportunities.
CAMP NURSE GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Share health care responsibilities as part of health center team for camp of 300 persons. Two to three health center staff are projected to be on duty each day.
• Distribute daily medications at meal time
• Diagnose and treat children and staff after meals
• Monitor chronic diseases
• On call for emergencies and administer necessary first aid
• Use standing orders of camp doctor who is located 8 miles away
• Abide by ACA (American Camp Association) Standards
• Follow state “Standards of Nursing Practice and Code of Ethics”
• Supervise health and sanitation of camp facilities
• Demonstrate a wellness philosophy
• Listen to staff and children in need
• Communicate with parents when necessary
• Administer medications
• Screen all persons at camp when they arrive
• Care for "in" patients in the Health Center
• Drive children to the MD, Urgent Care or ER
• Set up and replenish first aid kits taken on hiking and canoe trips
• Keep a daily log and other necessary records required by ACA and the State of Maine Health Inspection Program
• Submit paper work for insurance company reimbursement
• Keep inventory of meds and supplies; order supplies
• Enter daily activity and records into the database
• Keep in mind that additional responsibilities may be added or reassigned as necessary
