Summer Camp Counselor – West End House Girls Camp
Summer 2027 | Parsonsfield, Maine
Spend your summer making a difference!
Imagine spending your summer swimming in a Maine lake, singing around campfires, cheering on campers, making lifelong friendships, and helping girls discover just how capable they are.
We are looking for enthusiastic, caring, energetic, and responsible counselors to join our summer team. West End House is a small, residential summer camp for girls ages 7–17, located on the beautiful shores of Long Pond in Parsonsfield, Maine.
Our camp is a place where girls build confidence, independence, friendships, and a strong sense of community. As a counselor, you'll be an essential part of creating that experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Being a counselor is about much more than leading activities. You'll be a role model, mentor, and an important part of each camper's summer experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supervise and care for a group of campers in a residential cabin setting.
Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive cabin community.
Help campers develop independence, confidence, and positive relationships.
Participate enthusiastically in daily camp activities and programming.
Lead, assist with, or participate in activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, archery, boating, sports, nature activities, campfires, and special events.
Help campers navigate friendships, homesickness, challenges, and everyday camp life.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized cabin and camp environment.
Follow camp policies and procedures, including health, safety, and supervision requirements.
Communicate effectively with fellow counselors and camp leadership.
Bring your creativity, positive attitude, and sense of fun to everything you do!
WHAT MAKES WEST END HOUSE SPECIAL?
We are intentionally small, which means relationships are at the heart of everything we do.
Our campers come from different backgrounds and experiences, and we work hard to create a community where every girl feels welcomed, valued, and encouraged to be herself.

You might be a great fit if you:
Love working with children and young people.
Are positive, patient, responsible, and enthusiastic.
Enjoy being outdoors and participating in a variety of activities.
Are flexible and able to adapt when plans change.
Work well as part of a team.
Are comfortable providing guidance, encouragement, and appropriate boundaries.
Understand the importance of creating an inclusive and supportive environment.
Are ready to unplug, get involved, and fully embrace camp life!
Previous camp experience is wonderful but not required. We value enthusiasm, maturity, creativity, and a genuine interest in helping young people grow.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
Competitive summer compensation based on experience and position.
Room and board for the summer.
Three meals a day in our dining hall.
Weekly time off.
Training and support from an experienced leadership team.

MORE THAN A SUMMER JOB
Being a camp counselor is an opportunity to be part of something bigger.
You'll help a shy camper find her voice, encourage a girl to try something she's never done before, help cabinmates become friends, and celebrate the little victories that make a summer unforgettable.
You may come to camp thinking you're there to make a difference in the lives of girls. You'll probably leave realizing how much camp has changed you, too.
Come spend your summer in the woods, on the lake, and in a community that celebrates being strong, courageous, intelligent, and uniquely yourself.
We'd love to have you on our team!
